Veronica is in her second year at Concordia University, studying Sociology. She then wishes to obtain her degree in International Business. Veronica loves traveling and embracing her culture as she comes from two strong cultural backgrounds, Italian and Mexican.

She has visited many great cities like Rome, Mexico City, Miami, New York, and Washington DC. So, pursuing a career in International Business is ideal for her future.

Veronica loves fashion due to all the creativity that is involved in the process of designing. She also enjoys learning and understanding issues that are going on in the world to better understand the importance of living in a country like Canada.

It is important for her to give what she can to others (especially children) that are less fortunate so they can be able to have better education to improve their lives. For Veronica, education is crucial in everyone’s life because it is the foundation of free will.

Moreover, Veronica feels learning from experiences is an important part of life. Many positive aspects come out of it like discovering who you are, becoming more educated, and using these tools to better yourself in life.

In addition to this, Venessa hopes to open the country’s first unconventional depression resource center in her hometown, Langley BC. In her free time,she enjoys training her puppy so they will be able to volunteer together at the local cancer clinics.

Vaughan is currently completing her last year of studies for her Bsc in Nursing degree, with a focused practicum in the Operating Room. In addition to her schooling, Vaughan is also employed as a nurse in the Emergency Room at the Red Deer Regional Hospital.

She enjoys the satisfaction accompanied with being able to help and care for those who are ill. It is her desire to one day follow in her older brother’s footsteps and become a medical doctor.

Vaughan is passionate about empowering women. She is involved with an organization called EVOLVE Spa, a charity designed to help homeless women in Alberta. Despite all life’s demands, Vaughan still loves to visit her home where she grew up on a bison ranch.

Vania Georgieva

Vania Georgieva is born on the outskirts of a small city in Bulgaria, located at the base of the Rila mountain range. Being raised by her grandparents, on their large farm property, she was raised to help around the farm and grew up loving the outdoors.

She harbours a great love and appreciation for nature. This can be seen in her daily eco-friendly activities and her involvement in the growing green movement.

She immigrated to Toronto at the age of six with only her parents and sister, leaving all of her other relatives in Bulgaria. This was a difficult separation that, in combination with learning a new language and adapting to a new country, could be quite overwhelming.

She was able to overcome these challenges and excel in her language studies. This experience was the first of much relocation in her life, which taught Vania to love change and adapt to new surroundings with ease. Meeting a variety of people along the way, she developed a love for the act of meeting new people and befriending a variety of individuals.

During high school, she focused on a holistic approach to life. She was able to maintain academic proficiency, meanwhile donating a large portion of her time to volunteer work in the community. She often coordinated and hosted events in her old grade schools. Participating in local park clean ups, Terry Fox runs, fundraising events, and much more, she was also able to work part time providing child care fulfilling her love for working with children.

While doing this she never forgot her number one priority: family. Vania is very close to her family and feels one’s family has the greatest influence in their life. She thanks her family for all the opportunities they have provided for her and their continuous support through every adventure/challenge she takes on. Having this close relationship, Vania always put aside time to spend with her family.

Being far away from her family while completing her bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science at the University of Ottawa is a challenge but as always, she focuses on the positive aspects of the situation and realizes the benefits of the final results. Once she finishes her education, Vania wants to be able to balance a career in international politics and humanitarian work around the world.

Throughout all the challenges that she faced, she found comfort in staying positive and being motivated by the words of an inspirational author, Robin Sharma: “Dare to dream that you are more than a sum of your current circumstances.” Vania believes that people should never stop trying to disprove other’s definition of impossible and that everyone has the strength within to achieve anything they truly desire.

Tara grew up in London, Ontario, recently completing a BA in English and a graduate diploma in Public Relations from University of Western Ontario. She loves writing and spending time with her family and friends.

Tara’s outgoing personality and warm smile always make people feel welcome, as she enjoys meeting new people or exploring different cultures.

Her family is most important to her and she is very close with her younger brother and mom. Tara also has a small dog, Ruby, who spends most of her little life chasing squirrels and going for hikes with mom.

When Tara is not working full time in communications at a local government organization, she spends her time travelling. Whether it’s for leisure or volunteering abroad in impoverished countries, she is looking to make a difference and see something new.

My name is Tara Anne Davy, I’m 25 years old and I was born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon! Growing up in this small town has taught me the values and skills which made me the person I am today. I am blessed to say I have a wonderful family who has always shown me unconditional love, support and acceptance!

I value surrounding myself with my family, friends and my dogs, that’s one of the most important parts of my life! I graduated High School in 2005, and moved to Vancouver to do the first year of my Business Administration degree at Capilano University.

I did some travelling and then moved back and started working for the Government of Yukon for the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources in the Deputy Minister’s Office in 2008. Just a few of my hobbies consist of reading books and fashion magazines, doing yoga, exercising, being outdoors and even knitting!

I’ve always had an intuitive passion to listen, help and support people and genuinely has compassion for anyone in need. I love to travel and aspire to visit many more places in the world.

Even though Whitehorse is a small town, I whole heartedly believe that representing the Yukon in the Miss Universe Canada Pageant would be without a doubt the most exciting and notable experiences in my life! I’ve always been passionate about the fashion and modeling industry and I know I can be a great advocate to be a role model to girls and woman everywhere!

My aspiration is to inspire everyone to pursue their dreams even when they may seem unattainable! I genuinely believe I possess the necessary qualities to represent my Territory and our Country, Canada! An affirmation of mine is that if you believe in yourself; with hard work, you can accomplish anything. I’m a big believer in the power of positive thinking! I strive for an outgoing scope on life, to see the beauty in everything and make the best out of every situation I’m faced with! Suzette Hernandez

Suzette is a ramp model, an avid traveler and a fulltime commerce student. She is a health advocate who loves reading, singing, playing sports and volunteering in her community. Growing up in Vancouver, she speaks fluent English, Tagalog and a bit of French. Living, in her terms, is defined by experiencing what the world offers.

True to her philosophy, she has travelled all over North America, Europe, the Caribbean and Asia. She loves experiencing other cultures and hopes to be able to taste all the wonderful delicacies of traditional cuisines around the world.

Having modeled for seven years, she has grazed many runway shows, magazines, and has even been featured in a commercial as well as several TV shows. When asked about what drives her, she proudly talks about her father.

Her dad’s courageous battle with cancer has been a source of strength for this little lady. In an interview she once said, “As in Oprah Winfrey’s words, ‘he allowed me to see that not even the sky is the limit.’”

The pain of her loss fuels her hunger for success and has made her a very multifaceted woman. Presently, she is pursuing her Degree in Marketing, and dedicates her spare time to her family and volunteer work—planning and organizing fundraisers to help those in need. She has been a member of the non-profit organization called the Batangas Club of British Columbia since 2004, fundraising to sponsor children with no means to pursue an education.

Suzette Hernandez believes that anything is possible through hard work, perseverance and determination. She hopes to incorporate the knowledge she has gained from her traveling adventures to best represent Canada’s distinct cultural mosaic as the next Miss Universe Canada 2012.

Sophie Mokbel is currently working as an Accountant. She graduated from UQAM University, majoring in Business Administration and more specifically, in the marketing field.

In March 2009, she competed at the Happening Marketing representing her university in the field of marketing communication. She placed in third position. This event is the largest competition of Marketing in the eastern of Canada, where 10 universities compete. Sophie also worked for the comity of UQAM; she was the VP sponsorship from 2008 to 2009.

Sophie loved to volunteer for her local church. Also, when she was young she loved volunteering to take care, spend time and help children with their homework. Sophie also participated and helped in many fund raisings to help children in need.

Spending time with children is the most nourishing experience you can have. Presently, her part time job is tutoring young children. Sophie claims that all children have the same intelligence capacity, but you have to be patient and know how to find the best way that motivates them.

In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, going to the gym, playing the piano, staying up-to date, travelling, being there for others and spending time with friends and family.

Signa Love

Hometown: Rothesay, NB

Signa currently resides in Fredericton where she works at National Bank Financial. In her spare time she is working towards building a full-time music business by teaching voice lessons, giving recitals and participating in community productions. Signa attended the National Ballet School of Canada and L’École supérieure de ballet du Québec for four summers, and although she was given the opportunity to train for a professional career in ballet, she found her passion in music and theatre.

Signa completed a B.Mus. with honours in Vocal Performance at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Immediately following her first degree, Signa completed a M. Mus. in Opera Performance from the University of Toronto. Upon graduation, she was a recipient of the Opera Tour Award, which included a trip to London, England to experience first class opera and theatre performances.

As well as being involved in numerous productions during university, Signa has performed throughout Canada for small opera companies. She has organized many recitals and recorded her first CD in 2006. She had wonderful experiences performing at festivals in both France and Italy. In 2007, she was on the CBC show Triple Sensation, and was in the top 8 of triple threat performers in Eastern Canada.

Signa welcomes every opportunity to try new things, discover her talents, follow her passion and become the best woman she can be. She speaks English and French fluently, and has taken courses in Spanish, Italian and German. Signa enjoys meeting new people, spending time with family and friends, and being active in her community. She performs regularly in New Brunswick, and has organized fundraising concerts, such as a benefit for the African Relief Fund. She was recently featured in Christmas at the Playhouse, a community theatre event involving many talented local artists to sold out performances.

Signa maintains an active and busy lifestyle. She values her health and by getting enough sleep, exercising regularly and maintaining a healthy diet she keeps her energy levels high. Having a healthy mind and body stimulates positive energy, and keeps her motivated towards achieving her goals.

Signa feels honoured to be a delegate for Miss Universe Canada 2012, and believes that the title-holder would have the responsibility to be a positive role model for young women, and an ambassador for our country. Sarah Harrison is European Canadian, born in Ontario and grew up as a well-travelled dual-citizen of the UK and Canada. Sarah is experienced in many facets of brand representation and has locally, nationally, and internationally represented designers, corporations and non-profit organizations.

Sarah graduated from the Tourism Management program at NSCC, focusing on Eco-Tourism, and she is currently enrolled in her third year of a Tourism and Hospitality Management degree at MSVU. Throughout high school Sarah has been an avid member of Student Government and Nova Scotia Secondary School Students’ Association. Once in post-secondary school, Sarah was elected Vice President of her college’s Student Association and was in charge of Student Activities (varsity sports, intramural sports, social events, charity events).

Health and fitness have always been very important to Sarah. For years she was a swim coach while also competing in swim team, volleyball, basketball, track & field, softball and rugby. After high school she played for the Nova Scotia Women’s U19 Rugby Team at Eastern Nationals, later playing varsity for Saint Mary’s University. She is currently a sponsored athlete, competing in the bikini category of the NSABBA/CBBF and WBFF for the first time this year.

While in university and taking the course Small Business Management, Sarah decided to combine the theory education with practical experience so she started her own business at the age of 22. Her event management company was successful for the year of operation and Sarah had the honour of working events with Kevin O’Leary, Danny Glover and with fantastic companies such as DSM Telecom and Apeeling Orange.

Sarah is also a professional model and actress signed with City Models Talent Agency. This tall and curvaceous Canadian first started to gain recognition after doing a national ad campaign for Moosehead, when she was voted “Halifax’s Favourite Model” in Faces Magazine’s “Choice Awards” (reader’s poll). Since then, Sarah has modeled/acted in projects such as Atlantic Fashion Week, Halifax Shopping Centre’s billboard campaign, CTV Olympics commercial and many more.

Samantha Morris was born December 16, 1990 in Regina, SK and in 2003 moved to Calgary, AB. She attended junior and senior high and graduated college with a Medical Administration Diploma. However, she hopes to attend a semester of high school upgrading as well to get accepted to the University of Calgary September 2013 for bachelor of Business Commerce majoring in general management.

She is outgoing, spontaneous, kind and caring. She is self motivated and for the most part self-inspired, except for those everyday people who do extraordinary things. She is hard working and believes that women are strong, confident and beautiful beings. She also believes that music and laughter, along with self confidence and courage, is the cure to illness. She promotes a healthy lifestyle.

Samantha is currently working as a casual aid at the Alberta Children’s Hospital Oncology/Hematology Clinic. She loves working with children and being apart of the team to help the treatment process. Samantha was a frequent guest at the Regina General Hospital in her childhood due to constant illness. Her visits only became more common after she got appendicitis. When she was young she watched the Miss Universe Pageant on television and has always wanted to participate in this Pageant. She is proud of her Cree/white (Métis) heritage and hopes to be a role model to all youth by following her hopes, dreams and by achieving her own happiness and success.

Her interests include spending time with her family friends and pets. Listening to music, swimming, shopping, cooking and baking. She was involved as a child in baseball, basketball, and ringette.

Sahar Biniaz was born in India, raised in Iran, and is now a proud Canadian citizen living in Vancouver. She graduated with honors from Stella Adler Academy in Los Angeles, in performing arts. Currently she is working as an actress in film and television.

Her recent credits include the lead role in an upcoming anticipated Iranian film “Ambrosia” and a reoccurring guest star roles in two hit TV series “Sanctuary” and “Smallville”, which both air in numerous countries around the world.

Her roles portraying a goddess and a superhero are a striking parallel to her real life character. From volunteering in Thailand orphanages to traveling to jaw dropping locations around the world while raising awareness and convincing people to be organ donors, she is able to achieve any goal regardless its scale or fear factor.

Being voted as one of the most stylish people in Vancouver, she makes sure her firearm license is tucked away and her heels are off while climbing mountains, riding motorcycles or meeting any other unexpected challenge that life might throw her way. In accordance with her father’s advice that “beauty needs brains”, she has also completed her studies in Business Entrepreneurship from BCIT and Sauder School of business from UBC; and is an avid real estate investor.

Originally from Sept-Iles, Quebec, Sasha is very proud to be part of rich Canadian heritage. Sasha chose Aviation as her career path. She believes that by visiting various countries with unique cultural heritage and living conditions is the most effective way to learn about cultural heritage, values and principles.

It also is the key element in understanding how all these people can live and harmoniously interact within the borders of the single country – Canada.

Sasha’s Core Principles are guided by determination and perseverance. She believes that achievement of every challenge is a function of inspiration, fueled by passion.

Mina grew up in the small town of Port Alberni, BC as a first generation Indo-Canadian. Being exposed to the diversity within Canada Mina developed an interest for other cultures, societies, and people from all around the world. This interest has lead her to complete her Degree in Sociology at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.

Living in the Vancouver area, Mina is naturally a huge Canucks fan and can be found on game nights cheering on her team. In keeping with her love of an active life style Mina enjoys baking, zumba, yoga, volunteering, travelling, and dining out.

Of all things Mina enjoys doing, volunteering is one of her favourites. She finds it very important to give back to her community and does this by regularly raising money for different charities. She especially loves to work with children.

This past year, mina accomplished a life long goal by travelling oversees to volunteer in an orphanage and teach English.

Born and raised in Vancouver, B.C., I am currently a student at The Institute of Holistic Nutrition. I have many passions, currently in fitness and Holistic nutrition.

I love cooking with my loved ones, writing in my journal, traveling, exercising and dancing. One of my key traits is positive thinking; I believe you create the world around you with your thoughts.

For this I plan to start an organization or program that would help people design the life of their dreams. The program would include setting goals, making vision boards, healthy life style choices and creating more happiness in their lives.

Marta Jablonska

Always on the quest for new adventures, Marta Jablonska is a passionate young woman whose self-confidence and curious nature lead her to live life to the fullest and never say no to an opportunity.

Born in Warsaw, Poland, Marta came to Canada at the age of 6. Not understanding a word of English and having to learn the language quickly was the first challenge that inspired Marta to cultivate a profound interest for different cultures and languages. Marta is now fluent in Polish, English & French and is learning Spanish.

After secondary school, Marta moved to Montreal to attend McGill University. This allowed Marta to explore more of Canada’s cultural diversity and immerse herself in the francophone setting. Gifted with a creative, energetic and charismatic personality, Marta was also chosen to teach an undergraduate course as part of a special program at McGill.

Determined to keep expanding her horizons and to discover more of what the world has to offer, Marta recently embarked on a journey around the world, visiting New Zealand, Thailand, South Korea, Beijing, Barbados and various parts of North America over the past year. Nothing makes Marta happier than learning about new customs, foods and landmarks, while mixing with locals and exploring nature’s beauty.

Traveling has also exposed Marta to poverty and hardships in under-developed parts of the world. As a first-hand witness while volunteering in Argentina, Marta realizes the importance of a good support system for children. Being inspired by “Club Union de los Pibes,” an after-school program for children with difficult home lives, Marta is in the process of starting her own Sunny Sundays Project for Canadian children with similar situations. She is excited about spearheading the first annual Dine & Dance for SOS fundraising gala this year as well. Marta’s caring nature and exceptional entrepreneurial aptitude are qualities that will not only drive these projects to completion but set them up for success in the future.

Being ambitious, Marta does not only aspire to have a fulfilling personal life but excels in the professional and academic setting as well. She is currently working in Marketing while completing her MBA part-time. As a fervent believer in education, Marta’s future plan is to complete a PhD and become a Professor. Finally, she is looking to find ways to help others transform their lives for the better and is a Certified Holistic Health Counsellor from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.

Marta loves to laugh, be in the sun and do anything active outdoors. She also loves going to the movies, rock climbing, exploring extreme sports and playing word games with her friends. Her mantra for life includes “Do the unexpected,” and “Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage,” which will continue to guide her as she embarks on her next adventure to become Miss Universe Canada. If Marta is selected to represent her country, she will do so with pride and grace, in the same way she approaches every aspect of her life- by giving the opportunity 110%.
