FAVORITE THINGS ABOUT MY HOMETOWN/COUNTRY:
Every year people all over the world spend hundreds of dollars to experience what I have the opportunity to do every single day. I love the fact that just 10 minutes away from my home I have paradise at my finger tips. Being able to run my feet through the soothing sand and experience the breath taking view of the sun-kissed waters makes me continuously thankful that I live in the BAHAMAS! I also love “The rhythm and rhyme” found in our Bahamian music that is definitely the soul of our culture. Our songs tell the stories of old and new traditions and experiences of the Bahamian people. Last but not least, the strength and determination of our people. Though small in size, we continually strive to leave our mark wherever we may go!
LIFE’S AMBITIONS:
To touch the lives of not only my fellow Bahamians but to make an impact on the entire world. While acting locally, I'm always thinking globally so having the opportunity to work with organizations and make changes all over the world. If the opportunity presents itself I would also like to get into some acting!
HOBBIES:
If I ever have free time it would involve surfing the net, mainly Facebook&Twitter, I swear I'm addicted to social networks! I also love reading a good book! Spa time is always a good time whenever I have a day to myself to relax.
MY GOALS IN LIFE:
In 5 years I will be 30 and at that time I would like to own my own home or property; have established my etiquette training school; be counseling at the High School in the position of Head counselor; be active in the community; and it would also be nice to be married by 30!
MY BEST ASSET IS:
Found in the saying: “You can tell a lot about a person by looking into their EYES”. I constantly use my eyes to evoke whatever emotion I am trying to portray whether it’s happiness, excitement, determination or FIERCE, my eyes tell the stories that my words might not get a chance to convey!
MY DAILY PHILOSOPHY IS:
Your goals, minus your doubts, equal your reality.
– Ralph Marston. Dare to Dream!
THE MOVIE (AND/OR BOOK) THAT MOST INFLUENCED MY LIFE:
The Bible has had the greatest impact on my life; no matter what kind of day I am having the Bible is my source of direction, fulfillment and strength. Its teachings renew my faith and serves as a guideline for my daily living.
WHO I WOULD LIKE TO MEET AND WHY:
A very hard three way tie between Yendi Phillips, Nicole Flint and Jennifer Hudson. All 3 wonderful women with a real sense of style and drive but if I had to choose one it would be Jennifer Hudson. She is definitely someone who embodies resiliency, strength and talent. Every time one door was closed for her, God always seemed to open a new one. This young lady clearly has favor and being able to meet someone who has been such an inspiration to me would be a blessing!
I AM MOTIVATED BY:
True stories of individuals who have shown the tenacity to rise above adversities and setbacks to achieve their goals. Crystle Stewart, Janelle Commissiong, Jenifer Hudson, Pauline Davis and Nelson Mandela to name a few, have all impacted and motivated me in some way to continue to persevere towards my goals. It gives me the strength to believe that one day the world will know MY story and will continue to believe that dreams really can come true!
WHAT IS THE MOST UNUSUAL THING YOU HAVE EVER DONE?
FABOLUTION! The photo shoot for the Fabolution campaign has to top the list. During the shoot I was completely covered in black body paint with only underwear on. My lips were painted a zebra design and in the mirror I looked everything but cute. No seriously, it was really scary! We had to pose in the most awkward positions to create the concept they were going for. I discovered a greater appreciation for models after that experience!
BRIEFLY DESCRIBE THE MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE YOU ARE MOST PROUD OF:
To watch the excitement in my family, friends and supporters eyes when I won the Miss Grand Bahama title was priceless. I was never seen as a girly girl and when I entered Miss Grand Bahama I completely transformed. I discovered what had been in me from a babe; posing for the camera in every picture. Having to fight so hard with weight, pageantry knowledge and cat walk skills, winning Miss Grand Bahama and having all the people who believed in me also scream for joy in excitement will definitely go down in my books as one of the proudest moments of my life:)
WHAT I WOULD LIKE THE JUDGES TO KNOW ABOUT ME:
Upon returning home from completing my Masters Degree I have had an extremely busy year. In October I founded and chaired the first ever Miss St Georges High. In November my brother and I launched our production company SisBro productions - a company geared at bringing stylish and sophisticated events to the island of Grand Bahama. The launch was held under the theme "Blooming Orchids" A cocktail expo highlighting women entrepreneurs. Partial proceeds from this event went towards R.I.S.E, a parent support group for parents of special need children. In January I was chosen as one of the three finalist in the "Grand Bahama Young Play writers competition" and was able to see the first play I have ever written performed to over 400 people! So it's been a whirlwind of a year, but all of it I think has helped to continue to give me a good foundation for what a Queen should embody; Leadership, character and innovation!
